Incident Tracking - Workers Compensation

Project Sponsor:  Hank James

Project Manager:  John Champion

Project Team:  Angela Allen, Trevor Grace, Darius Griffin

Business Problem:

  • Existing processes for tracking and managing health and safety incidents and the respective workers compensation claims are cumbersome, inefficient, and of no benefit to the University
  • The same data is being entered multiple times, into different systems
  • Calculations and reports are being pulled together manually
  • Lack of a centralized repository to manage such data is a disadvantage to the University - the Environmental Health & Safety unit is unable to provide the accurate and reliable data necessary to identify opportunities to mitigate risk across the campus and ultimately help to realize a cost savings to the University

Goal(s):  The goal of this project is to implement a single repository where health and safety incident and workers compensation data will be stored.

Objective(s):

  • Reduce manual points of data entry to only one or two occurrences
  • Provide management with a more holistic view of incident data for safety, risk, and opportunity analysis across campus
  • Make data more easily and readily accessible for accurate and reliable reporting
